The darling of the awards season and glorious epic Hollywood biopic, The Aviator, is out to own on two Disc DVD on the 13th June. Legendary director, Martin Scorsese (Goodfellas, Casino, Gangs of New York) returns with a stunning cast of A-List talent to tell the fascinating story of the eccentric billionaire tycoon, ladies’ man, aviation enthusiast and Hollywood film mogul, Howard Hughes.

The drama recounts the years of Hughes’ life from the late 1920s to the 1940s, an era when Hughes was directing and producing Hollywood movies and test flying innovative aircraft he was designing and creating. The film also looks into his emotional life and his love affairs with some of Hollywood’s leading ladies including elegant screen star, Katharine Hepburn (Cate Blanchett) and the sensual and luminous beauty, Ava Gardner (Kate Beckinsale). It also chronicles Hughes' painful struggle with his increasingly erratic obsessive-compulsive behaviour, which leads him ultimately to isolate himself from his friends and withdraw from the world.

Story Synopsis

Inheriting his father’s tool manufacturing company’s millions, the ambitious Howard Hughes sets out to build a successful career from his two great passions - film-making and aviation. After completing his first film masterpiece, ‘Hell’s Angels’, he begins a quest to build the fastest and biggest aeroplanes of all time. Along the way he also experiences high profile relationships with screen legends and beauties, Katherine Hepburn and Ava Gardener.

Hughes’ compelling story is one filled with glamour, ambition, obsession and a personal battle against his phobias and obsessive-compulsive behaviour.
