The global box office smash hit “The Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” is back, bigger and better than before, as a swashbuckling three-disc Special Edition DVD box set. Available from 25th April for a limited time only, this epic, high seas adventure overflows with treasures and a wealth of behind the scenes secrets. As well as the blockbuster film, it includes “The Lost Disc” an extra DVD crammed full of never-before-seen footage.

Buried deep within the Buena Vista film vaults, the third “Lost Disc” contains reels of unseen footage that unravel the magic behind the film, giving an insider glimpse into the filming of some of the most incredible moments of the movie. Interviews with Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush give a real insight into how they brought their characters to life and there’s the chance to see the critically acclaimed genius of Johnny Depp, Keira Knightly and Orlando Bloom in action on set. “The Lost Disc” is overflowing with new footage about the making of the film as well as the inspiration behind it, from the amazing special effects used to create the magnificent explosion of the British naval ship ‘The Interceptor’ to interviews with Walt Disney himself about The Pirates of the Caribbean Disneyland ride, how it was built and interviews with its makers.

Becoming Barbossa
A commentary with Geoffrey Rush explores how the actor got behind the character’s personality, his traits and personal history, which gives an insight into the scale of research and preparation that is required before filming.

Thar She Blows
Blowing the British Navy Ship, The Interceptor, clean in half made an impressive scene in the film. But just how did they do it? Join the dedicated team of Pirates craftsmen as they build an exact replica of the ship in miniature. Find out how the crew created a storm using a remarkable 750 gallons of water, wind, rain and wave makers. Then, after months of careful preparation, watch them blow the ship to smithereens! ‘Thar She Blows’ is a behind the scenes glimpse at the dedication and expertise required to create an incredible few moments of the film.

They explain how it inspired the film, sometimes down to the tiniest detail.

Dead Men Tell No Tales
Previously only available as a PC computer file, this documentary looks back at the creation of the Disneyland ride, featuring interviews with Walt Disney himself and the original creators of the ride. The ride was the first of its kind and one of its first to use audio animatronics and lifelike moving glass eyes in the models.

Disc 2 – The Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Story Synopsis
In an era when pirates roamed the Caribbean seas, Governor’s daughter Elizabeth Swann (Knightly) is kidnapped by evil pirate Captain Barbossa aboard most feared of all pirate ships The Black Pearl. Elizabeth’s childhood friend and secret admirer Will Turner (Bloom), is forced to team up with rogue pirate Jack Sparrow to save her.

Little do Turner and Sparrow know what they’re up against as it is slowly revealed that Barbossa and his salty crew are cursed. Forced to exist between living and dead and only revealing their skeleton forms in the moonlight, the pirates intend to use Elizabeth’s blood to break the curse and return them to the world of the living. Determined to save the love of his life Turner is prepared to do anything to thwart the dastardly pirate’s plans.
