Exactly what I wanted

I bought 2 of these, (one each for me and my wife). Wherever we go, we take a bag of books, so I decided to get these so we can take all our books with us. So far I've downloaded 28 books and have only used a small amount of the available memory. It fits easily in my pocket, so I can take it wherever I go and can carry on reading, even if I'm only waiting for a short time.
I haven't noticed any problems with the battery, (I've read 4 and a half books up until now). I find that U.S. stores seem to carry a greater selection of downloadable books, but I'm sure that this will change as readers get more popular.
All in all, I'm glad I've bought them and would recommend the PRS-505 to anyone.
disappointing

The Sony Reader has many good qualities, but ultimately it's very disappointing: very few ebooks are available for download (and those that are are the same price as 'real' books, so what's the point?); it's impossible to print from it or from its ebook library software so you can't generate a paper copy at all even though you own the copyright; and battery power, contrary to the claims, is used up very quickly indeed - leave it for more than a day and it goes completely flat, won't charge via wall outlet and will only charge via USB if you reset it. A vastly overrated and disappointing product - only buy if you have no bookshelves. Real books are still better.
Fantastic piece of kit

This thing is amazing - the screen is nice and clear and easy to read.
The menu is very easy to use and plenty of setup options to adjust text size and orientation.
Tip - if you want to save money on a power supply get a Sony PSP one as its the same but a lot cheaper.
